Skip dimensions are typical and vary between suppliers. Placing a skip on any part of the public highway, including a verge or footway, requires a permit from the highway authority and the skip must be marked and lit in accordance with the conditions. Weight limits apply and heavy waste such as soil, rubble and plasterboard may need a smaller skip or a separate container.
